It’s basic: quit weighing yourself. Female or male, transgender? just step off the scale and throw it away or donate it. Don’t be tempted at the gym to check after every single work out; don’t do it every morning when you wake up; and don’t do it right before you go to bed or after you’ve just eaten because your weight will fluctuate throughout the day and vary daily. Paleo isn’t about how much you weigh, it’s about how you feel and better yourself from the inside out.
135 pounds isn’t fat – I have so much muscle unaccounted for, bones, organs, hair, clothes!!! And 135 is the last I know about my weight since being to the doctor’s and since they weigh you before the pee test, we can guess there’s a few added pounds because my full bladder too. Look, I know it’s never easy when you have this goal of how you want to look, believe me, nothing ever seems good enough. But it’s a process and you have got to realize that you can’t get your magical body over night. It takes hard work and commitment and so long as you stick to your guns, you’ll see the results you want. The hardest part probably isn’t stepping off that scale, it’s giving up all the food you love. Cheese, oh man was that difficult to lose! But I don’t miss it. Of course it’s beautiful and forever looks delectable in show cases and on a fruit plate, but I’m better off without it.
Eat what’s better for you and don’t count the calories. Paleo isn’t about calorie-counting either; Paleo is about eating what’s best to nourish the body and love the body from the inside. If you’re craving sugar (ladies especially – we all do at some point), go for the fruit. I always say to overeat the healthy. Eat the hell out of some dates or mango, maybe some berries, or maybe a bar of dark chocolate, but rebound the next meal and the next day, and you’re going to be just fine.
I don’t get on that scale because I’ve been known to obsess about the resulting number; it’s not healthy in the least. Rather, it can drive you manic and that’s where disorders come from. So release yourself from the bind that is the scale and feel good in your own skin.
